DunBroch Forest 1 is your first venture into one of the eight forests and provides some good experience as to what to expect in the later levels, which get progressively more difficult. Your character begins in the entrance area. The registered DunBroch tartan consists of ocean blue for the North Sea, subdued scarlet for bloodshed during the clan wars, deep green for the Scottish Highlands, navy blue for the eventual unity of the four clans, and gray for the Scottish people.

DunBroch Forest 1 is your first venture into one of the eight forests and provides some good experience as to what to expect in the later levels, which get progressively more difficult. Your character begins in the entrance area. You cannot pass the gate to the rest of the forest until the level has been created. DunBroch Forest 1 consists of several different areas. Once you can exit the entrance area, you enter an exploration area. This leads to area A. Complete the objectives in this area, and continue on to another exploration area and then to area B. Once you finish the objectives there, you unlock access to a third exploration area, which leads you to the final area where you can exit the forest and return to the Hub. While area A and area B are always the same when you play DunBroch Forest 1, the exploration areas are generated each time you play, so they are always different. As you exit the entrance area, your objective is to get to DunBroch Forest 1—Area A. Remember, there is no rush, so take some time to explore along the way.

Tip

While you are waiting for the level to build, explore the entrance area. There are always two doors through which you can throw your sidekick—if his or her search ability is high enough—as well as some purple Spark capsules for charging up your character’s special move. If your current character is fully charged, swap in other characters you may need for this level and use those purple Sparks to charge them up instead. There is also a sidekick outfitter here for any last-minute changes to your sidekick.

Area A

Dunbroch

After moving through the first exploration area, you come across a narrow passage with a series of braziers that ignite as you move past them. A message that states “Trespassers Detected!” appears on the screen to let you know you are in area A. Upon entering, a magical barrier appears at the opposite end of area A. In order to remove the barrier, you must find and collect a couple cakes.

You are now entering area A. Collect those cakes.

Macbook applications. This area has four cakes that you must collect. However, each is protected by a spell that prevents you from picking them up. The spells are attached to wells, so pick up your sidekick and throw him or her through the door in the well near the entrance to this area. The sidekick removes the spells so you can then pick up the cakes.

Your sidekick can remove the spells for the cakes in this area. Just throw your sidekick through a door into a well to do the job.

The second cake and well are located up some steps near the first. However, it is protected by a couple Bear Catapults. Quickly defeat both of them before they can inflict damage on your character and sidekick. The third cake is located in a pond near a waterfall. It too is protected by Catapults. The fourth cake can be found towards the exit to this area. Throughout this area you will need to defeat enemies that appear. However, once you have the fourth cake, the magical barrier disappears and you can advance to the next exploration area, which then leads you to area B.

Watch out for these Bear Catapults. Try to destroy them quickly. They will turn towards you and then begin launching projectiles at you.
Collect the final cake to lower the magical barrier so you can continue to the next area.

Area B

After exploring the area connecting A and B, and hopefully finding some sidekick loot and Sparks, you enter area B. As before, when you move past the braziers, another magical barrier appears at the exit to area B. This time the cakes are protected a bit differently. The spells are attached to pressure plates with a design on them. In order to remove the spell, you must step on each pressure plate to remove the design. Stepping on them again makes the design reappear. Since your sidekick can also step on them, it is a good idea to pick up your sidekick and carry him or her as you step on the pressure plates. For the first cake, there are four pressure plates. Clear the designs off of all four at the same time and then collect the cake.

Step on each of these pressure plates. When all four are clear of designs on them, the cake is free from the spell. Be ready to fight off the Pine Bears that appear when you pick up the cake.

There are two more cakes in area B. Follow the yellow objective marker to find them. Each of these has more pressure plates than the first cake. Plus enemies appear and attack as soon as you arrive in the vicinity. The best tactic is to defeat the wooden bears first and then step on the pressure plates. Otherwise, your character will take a lot of damage while carrying the sidekick around and clearing the designs from the pressure plates. Collect all three cakes in this area to lower the magical barrier.

When there are enemies around the pressure plates, it is easier to defeat all of the enemies first, and then focus on clearing the plates to break the spell protecting the cakes.

As soon as you collect the final cake for area B, the path to the exit is opened. You first have to move through a third exploration area. Spend as much time as you want opening loot chests, searching for Spark capsules, and defeating enemies. Then pass through the exit gate. Freeware downloads. When the portal appears, walk to it to head back to the Hub from where you can begin your next adventure into the forests of DunBroch.

Get to this gate to receive the sidekick loot rewards and use the portal to return to the Hub.
